I'm In LOVE With The Coco

Hi sweets!  I've missed you!  Mom life has been challenging and keeps me super busy, but I wouldn't change a thing.  Mom life is the best life!

Today's post is all about HAIR!  I get a ton of questions on what products I use to maintain my curls.  I always start with a sulfate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner.  My hair is naturally dry and these chemicals can strip the natural oils making my hair even dryer.  I have to keep my hair moisturized at all times.  Deep conditioning and oils are a must!  My favorite?  Coconut oil!  I use it for everything.

SheaMoisture's new 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Hydration Line is ahhhmazing!  It's my current fav!  It's made my hair healthier and shiny.  The leave-in is a miracle spray.  I spray it before styling and my hair feels super soft and manageable.

SheaMoisture has been my go to brand since I became naturally curly 2yrs ago.  Not only are all their products natural, but this coconut oil line is color safe!

My hair is in LOVE with this stuff!

My current styling products and even a style post coming soon!

"Curls" with nuNAAT Beauty!

Hey loves!  Happy New Year!
I hope you guys had an amazing holiday season.  It's time to get 2016 rollin!

This is my first post of the year, and it's all about HAIR!

I know it's been a month since my last post but, I'm sure you all know that I've gone natural (7 months.)  I finally went and got a "real" curly girl haircut at 5 Salon Spa in Freehold, NJ with Ona.  She was amazing and gave me lots of advice on keeping my hair moisturized and healthy.

I think the word "natural" means different things for different people, but for me it meant staying away from all heat for at least a year.  It also meant that I would have to use natural products that are sulfates, parabens, & silicone free.  These unnatural chemicals aren't good for any type of hair, but are especially damaging on your curls.

nuNAAT sent me their "Real Me' collection and I was so excited to try it!  nuNAAT uses some of the finest ingredients on their products.  They carefully crafted their line with the belief that with the right combination of natural ingredients, everyone can have great hair!

I instantly fell in love with the blast of shine hair mask.  Weekly deep conditioners/masks are so important for the health of your hair.  I always apply it to clean hair, and I use a plastic cap to keep all the moisture and heat in.  You only have to keep it in for 15-20 minutes, but I like to leave it in for at least a half hour.  The longer, the better.

Blast of Shine Hair Mask

I saw such a difference in my curl pattern with just one use of this mask.  My hair felt super soft and my curls were so defined even without product.

Natural Curl Activator - Perfect Do Pomade
After my hair was washed and conditioned, I applied my leave-in conditioner and then I used the the natural curl activator.  This curl activator had my curls poppin!  It keeps your hair hydrated, not crunchy and frizz-free.

After applying the products, I like to air dry but with it being January and freezing, I usually diffuse.  My best advice for diffusing is to use cold air.  If your using heat, that's not good and can make your curls frizzy. I also don't diffuse to dry my hair, I always leave it a little damp.  Air drying is always best!

After diffusing for about 30 minutes, I added some of the pomade to my edges to keep them down.  If I had to choose just one of the products from this line, it would be the mask.  It made my curls super defined and it smells amazing!

Savannah Hair Therapy

Happy Friday sweets!

Horrible weather ahead of us here in NJ for tomorrow.  Can't wait for spring!  I can't even say we've had a bad winter, but I'm still over it.

The cold weather is horrible on my hair.  I have curly, dry, coarse, and unruly hair at times.  It doesn't help that I color it every 3-6 months either.  With that said, I MUST use a deep conditioner or hair mask on my locks at least once a week.  Intense conditioning can do wonders for damaged hair.  I don't use the same one over and over again.  I like to use different ones depending on what I feel my hair needs at that time.  If I recently dyed my hair, I usually go for a color treated one, other times I look for moisturizing ones, and sometimes just the scent of one can be the winner.

Savannah Hair Therapy Treatment Masque with shea butter from Good Looking Discounts  has to be one of the best masks that I've tried.  A good deep conditioner can be pricey, but Good Looking Discounts provides quality products for hair care, skin care and body care at discounted prices.

I have nothing but great things to say about this Savannah hair therapy masque.  Before you even put it in your hair, the smell takes you somewhere.  Not somewhere tropical, more like Paris.  I can't really explain it.  It's not fruits or berries, it's rich and fancy.  The smell is just out of this world.  This masque is so concentrated that you can actually tilt the bottle and nothing is going to drip.  A little goes a super long way.   You can use it as a routine conditioner if you'd like, but for me it works best when I use it once a week with a thermal conditioning cap.  I also sit under the dryer for about 20 minutes.

Hair Tip: Always detangle your hair before you get in the shower.  It tangles less, which makes it easier to apply your conditioner.

In just one use of this masque, I felt the difference in my hair.  Talk about smooth, shiny, and oh that scent!  If your hair needs moisture, I highly recommend this masque.  Another thing I've noticed since using this product, is I've had less breakage.    Just let the stuff work its deep conditioning magic, and voila - healthy, beautiful hair.

Have a great weekend!

BrushLove Review

BrushLove.com

What's up my sweets!  Let's talk HAIR!

I hate my hair!  Ok hate is a strong word, I unlike my hair!  LOL!  It's sooooo thick, sooooo curly, sooooo dry!  It's been a struggle for me, my entire life.  If there's a product out there for dry/curly hair, I've tried it!  I try it all!  When it comes to my hair, I don't care how much it cost if I think it might work...I have to buy it.

I was lucky to have been sent 2 amazing hair brushes from BrushLove.  What's funny, is that no matter how many products I buy for my hair, I don't really consider how important a hair brush can be.  I just go to my local drug store and buy one that is round and has bristles....right?  NO!
I usually use a round bristle brush like this

What would annoy me about this brush is that when I would try to curl my ends, my hair would get caught and get all knotted.  It didn't really matter cause I would use my curling iron, but after using one of the brushes they sent me, I realized how much better having nylon bristles can be!  Here is my new lover!

BrushLab {Fresh} Thermal Round Large Hair Brush

I used this brush over the weekend and I was amazed at how good it is!
First of all, It literally cut my dry time in half.  NO LIE!  But that wasn't the best part.  The best part of the brush was it didn't knot my hair when I twirled it around to make a curl.  I think for me this was the most amazing thing.  It also stays cool to the touch!  I really loved using this brush.  It's only $15.98 and if some of you were like me, and thought I don't need a $16 dollar brush, I'll just buy a cheap one at the dollar store.  Oh no!  Get this brush!  It will change your hair life!

I also got the Cushion paddle brush, which was beyond fab for detangling my hair

Brushlab Zebra Cushion Paddle Hair Brush

I had to do a before and after picture so you guys could see how fab my hair turned out.

I took this before picture on Saturday afternoon and usually I put some sort of curl cream, but this time I just left it curly with no products, so you can see what my curl looks like before I blow dry.

And if your wondering why I was wearing this sweater, it was freaking freezing on Saturday!  But of course it's like 100 today!  Anyhoo, here are my after pics

Thank you so much to Eti Fani and BrushLove for sending me these awesome brushes!  I also want to thank New Jersey Latina Bloggers for making me part of their amazing group!

Hope you enjoy this post!

Happy shopping!
