Q&A for Birchblogger of the Month!

Meet Our Birchblogger of the Month: Melissa Pereira of Melissa’s Sweet Styles

Our community of Birchbloggers is a vibrant bunch of beauty-loving ladies from all corners of the blogosphere. This month, meet Melissa Pereira, the fuss-free fashionista behind Melissa’s Sweet Styles.

Tell us the story behind your blog, Melissa’s Sweet Styles.

I love to create looks on a budget and show women that you don't have to spend a fortune to look (and feel) fabulous. I decided to start my own blog in the hopes of inspiring other fashionistas as much as my favorite bloggers have inspired me.

What are the beauty products you can’t live without right now?

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner—it gives you the perfect cat eye. I also love Too Faced “Better Than Sex” Mascara. The two together are the perfect pair.

If you could only use one product each day, what would it be?

Just one, really? I would have to say lip-gloss. That way if I really needed to, I could use it as a cheek stain too!

Describe your personal approach to beauty.

Makeup should be fun—not fussy and complicated. I love makeup as much as the next girl, but I like to keep it simple and natural.

What are some of your daily must-read blogs?

I have so many favorites that I religiously read: Sincerely Jules (how can you not love a girl who can pair a pencil skirt and chucks?), Atlantic Pacific, Gary Pepper Vintage, Gal Meets Glam (Julia is breathtaking), Fashion Bananas, Cupcakes & Cashmere… my list is endless!

Our theme this month is Freewheeling—what do you to unwind?

Shopping! Oh, and wine. Wine, my laptop, and a good sale—that’s my kind of unwinding.

What’s your typical morning beauty routine?

I don’t give myself much time in the morning so my routine is pretty quick: cleanse, moisturize, and conceal! Oh, and mascara of course!

You have amazing style. How do you pair your makeup with your outfit without going overboard?

No matchy-matchy. I'm totally OK with matching your lipstick to your outfit, but matching your eyeshadow with your clothes is tricky. When in doubt I go with metallics—they go with everything.

What’s your favorite blog post you’ve ever written?

If I had to choose one, it would be the post I wrote about the night I attended a private screening for Project Runway All-Stars. I've been a fan of PR since the beginning, so attending an event (and getting to meet Season 12 winner Dom Streater!) was really exciting.

Thanks again Birchbox!

Birchblogger Of The Month!

Birchblogger Of The Month?  Yup!  That's ME!  Thank you Birchbox!  As the birchblogger of the month, I had the pleasure of reviewing the May box spoiler!  This months spoiler is well lets just say its, bodylicious!  If you'd like to read my article on Birchbox.com, here's the link:
http://www.birchbox.com/magazine/article/the-new-body-wash-and-lotion-power-couple?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=statusupdate&utm_campaign=facebook_050514_mayspoiler2_magazine

Here's a little history on Caldrea Aromatherapeutic Living:

Walking through the cleaning aisle at her local store, Monica Nassif thought there must be a better, safer alternative to the harsh smells and formulations she had under her sink.  Driven by the desire to care for her family, Monica became the pioneer of Aromatherapeutic Homekeeping in 1999.  Her entrepreneurial spirit and fierce commitment to care for those she loved fueled her to develop Caldrea.  Quality ingredients, safe formulations and beautiful fragrance have been the cornerstones of Caldrea from its inception.

Caldrea was founded on a simple and powerful idea—that caring for our homes should be a beautiful experience.  In our world, beauty is so much more than skin deep. It is a vital force that fuses elegance, sophistication and natural goodness.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the actual packaging.  So sophisticated and chic.  Not a silly cartoon or fruit in site!  The next thing I noticed was that they came with matching lotions.  LOVES it!  How many of us are always buying body wash that smells like one thing, and then we put on lotion that smells like something else.  The idea that we can wear the same scent in all aspects was pretty cool to me.  Wanna here something even cooler, the scents come with the matching perfume.  You heard right, perfume!  So you don't have to smell like cucumber in your shower, peach in your lotion, and musk in your perfume.  Just brilliant!

Ok, review time!  My favorite scent had to be the aloe water apricot. This scent is perfect for spring/summer.  It was fresh, bright, and slightly sweet but not overpowering.  I also love that it's free of harsh ingredients which are no good for my sensitive skin.  Of course I used the lotion and I could literally smell it as I moved through out the day.  I'm going to use my Birchbox points to get the perfume because it smells just that good.

The hubby wanted in on the action so I let him pick a scent to try and he went with coconut fig leaf. He said it made him feel like he was on vacation.  It was surprisingly soft, but rich.

I think the only complaint that we both had was the consistency.  It's not thick and soapy, it's soft and silky, so I ended up pouring more on my bath sponge than I actually needed.  A little goes a long way.  I can't wait to try the tea olive lime!

I am honored to have been chosen as the Birchblogger Of The Month!  Even before I joined the Birchblogger program, I was a customer of Birchbox for a little over 2 years.  I just love receiving samples and being able to try new products every month.

If your looking for a last minute Mother's Day gift, a Birchbox subscription would be awesome.  The gift that keeps giving.  Monthly to be precise!

Stay tuned for a cute Q&A and another article I'll be writing with Birchbox!

Thank you to Caldrea and everyone at Birchbox!

Black For Spring & A Little Magic!

Black for Spring?  I say yes!  Spring is all about floral and bright colors, but sometimes you need a little shade.

22 is my favorite number!

Top: H & M
Skirt: Target
Belt: Wet Seal (similar)
Leopard flats: Rainbow Shops
Handbag: Galian Handbags
Necklace: Charming Charlie

Now a little MAGIC!  As you all know I attended an event with Miss Jessie's and Birchbox last week.  I was able to take their latest product for review.  Transitioners Magic!  Magic it is!  Here is a before picture of my curls.  I just used a little conditioner and a curl cream.  As you can see here my curls were undefined and dry.

Transitioners Magic defined my curls and even curled my unruly ends!  I didn't even diffuse my hair and my curls were poppin!  If your anything like me and have heat damage or any kind of damage on your curls, Transitioners Magic is a must try!

Loving my hair!  Thank you Birchbox & Miss Jessie's!

TGIT!

Birchbox & W3llPeople

I love makeup for breakfast!  On Friday I was invited to breakfast with Birchbox and W3LL People.  The Birchbox HQ was so chic, open, and FUN!  Looks like a fun place to work, and of course beauty products everywhere!

I was super early.  Breakfast was at 9 and I got there at 8:30, my friends would be proud!  #alwayslate

W3LL People is makeup that is 100% all natural with organic aloe.

Co-founder and makeup guru Shirley Pinkson, shared the wonders of how well “green” cosmetics can really work.  W3LL People received a "Green Star" by Elle Magazine.  That's the best of the best in natural and organic cosmetics.  The judges faves were the Hedonist All Natural Mineral Bronzer and the Hypnotist Natural Eyepencil.

I got to play with the entire collection and everything felt so velvety and smooth.  My favorite product of the line has to be the UNIVERSALIST LUMINOUS MULTI-USE COLORSTICK.  It comes in all these wonderful colors and you can pretty much stick it anywhere.
